In the Northern Gulf Islands and the untamed Discovery Islands, located between Vancouver Island and the wild west coast of British Columbia, you’ll find stunning coastal scenery and an astonishing array of wildlife and birds. What’s the best way to see it all? Boat tours of course! Go whale watching, wildlife viewing, fishing or take an adventure / eco tours- the Island Adventure Centre can take you there!
This year we are offering boat tour options for whale watching! Choose from a Zodiac or covered boat. When touring in a Zodiac don an all weather suit, experience extreme excitement and fresh, salty air in a comfortable open boat... about as close to nature as you can get! Whale watching in an enclosed boat gives you cruiser class comfort and protection from the elements...or the ability to enjoy the view and fresh air on the outside viewing deck. All boats have hydrophones so you can listen to the whales sing!

It's easy to have a beautiful Quadra Island experience! Cruise through extraordinary wilderness scenery to find and observe orcas. Listen to them sing with the onboard hydrophone. The islands provide a picturesque backdrop for resident Orca whales spy hopping in the mist, black bears meandering on the beach with their cubs and seals & sea lions basking on rock islets. You can watch a magnificent bald eagle rise from the waves clutching a salmon in its talons while kayaks skim past, the sun reflecting off droplets on paddles poised to slice the clear, clean water. Can you feel the ocean spray on your face? What a holiday!
The Island Adventure Centre is based on Quadra Island, just a ten-minute ferry ride from Campbell River, BC on the north central east coast of Vancouver Island. The Adventure Centre is your source for wild outdoor adventures in the Campbell River / Quadra Island / Northern Gulf Islands / Discovery Islands BC area!
We’ve set a precedent for comfortable adventure tours, eco tours and fishing charters. The Island Adventure Centre is located in Heriot Bay on Quadra Island. We're easy to get to but hard to leave - because there's always more to do and see!
The Island Adventure Centre offers a free shuttle service from the Quadra Island side of the ferry, making it easy to participate in a day tour if you are coming from Campbell River. But why not consider staying right in the center of the action, on Quadra Island where you’ll find hiking trails and island scenery right in your back yard!
Adventure packages including tours and accommodations can be found at the Heriot Bay Inn, which offers rooms, suites & cabins, an RV Park & a campground with oceanfront tent camping sites.
