Fishing Report
as of February 14, 2008
Fishing in February? Sure, why not! Winter fishing at the moment concentrates on dropping prawn and dungeness crab traps, and fishing for winter spring salmon, also known as chinook salmon, and sometimes refered to as king salmon. It's always comfortable fishing on a covered boat, so why not try your luck at winter fishing?
as of August 5, 2007
The last couple of weeks fishing has been steady down off the south end of Quadra at the lighthouse and "the hump", with Chinooks averaging 12 - 25 lbs on the ebb drift/outgoing tide.
Prawning has also been good (weather dependent) at Francisco Point, the green can, and towards Cortes.
Some really nice fishing has been happening north of the narrows the last few days on both the ebb & flood tides.
As to fish, we have been catching the occasional coho, but mostly Chinooks. Pink salmon should be arriving any day. Ling cod is now open, and good catches (of one per person per day) have been happening.

Fishing has been steady down off the south end of Quadra in the last couple of weeks, around the lighthouse, with Chinooks averaging 12 - 25 pounds on the ebb rift/outgoing tide.
Some really nice salmon fishing has been happening north of the narrows in the last few days on both the ebb & flood tides. We have been seeing the occasional coho, however it is mostly Chinooks at this time. Pink salmon should be arriving by mid-July.
Prawning has been good, weather dependent, at Francisco Point, the green can, and out towards Cortes.
Ling Cod is now open, with good catches, and a limit of one per person per day.
With the improvement in the weather (it's finally looking like summer!) it's time to get out on the water, enjoy some fishing, and bring home a salmon for the barbeque!
