If paddling the Discovery Islands archipelago is on your itinerary, consider kayak transport: enjoy a one way paddle which gives the freedom to start (or finish) further out. Eagle 24 (pictured below) is equipped with kayak racks capable of transporting up to eight kayaks, plus has lots of space for gear and passengers. Enjoy all that the Discovery Islands offer from the tranquil pace of a kayak.
Ocean flow through the Discovery Islands archipelago creates upswelling of deep bottom water as extreme tidal currents push between the many islands. The upswelling churns up water rich in life, feeding the food chain from the bottom up, and making this a very dynamic and exciting place for wildlife viewing.
Eagles and marine birds abound. October through May there are colonies of Stellar Sea Lions, as well as the occasional California Sea Lion.
Year round we see Harbour Porpoises, Dahl's porpoises, Pacific White Sided Dolphins, transient Orcas, Harbour Seals and black bears on the beaches.
From June through October, Orcas travel through the area, as do Humpback, Gray & Minke whales.
